Hello, I have a Aspire X1700 with a Operating System: Windows 2.6.0.6002 (Service Pack 2) CPU Type: Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2220 @ 2.40GHz CPU Speed (GHz): 2.423 System Memory (GB): 3.998 Video Card Model: NVIDIA GeForce G100 Video Card Driver: nvd3dum.dll Desktop Resolution: 1280x960 Hard Disk Size (GB): 291.588 Hard Disk Free Space (GB): 291.491 220W Power Supply Are there any slots in this computer to add a better grahpics card and if so what graphics card will fit I bought one of these PCs last year (firesale.) and swapped out the Nvidia G100 for an (MSI) ATI Radeon HD 5670. MSI have one of these in a low-profile formfactor. The only catch. I had to mod the case so that fans would fit (the PCIe X16 slot is right up against the side of the case, so I had to cut a hole and mount the fan unit on the outside!) I'm now running Win7 x86 and it runs like a dream compared to the G100. The x1700 ACER BIOS MOD ( BIOS MOD) This might be the best posting for the x1700, (I have found a compatible bios that unlockes the Bsel and other supporting features that were disabled by ACER.) Many things that could not be changed. ALLOT OF OPTIONS ' MCP73T-AD V1.0'.
The Acer MCP73T-AD uses the Intel LGA 775/ Socket T CPU socket. Any compatible Intel CPU will have the same socket entry.

It uses the aging DDR2 memory type, with maximum speeds of up to 800 MHz, and 2 DDR2 slots allowing for a maximum total of 4 GB RAM. DDR2 memory is exceptionally out of date, and considering how cheap DDR3 RAM is, using a motherboard with only DDR2 compatibility in a modern system build would be a very bad idea.
The Micro-ATX Acer MCP73T-AD should fit into all ATX cases, but its smaller size allows you to downsize your system build as a whole. Its size comes at the cost of features, so there are likely to be far fewer connections and expansion options available than in a larger motherboard. The Acer MCP73T-AD supports onboard graphics. This allows for integrated graphics when paired with a compatible CPU that supports them. Integrated graphics are a cheap alternative to using a graphics card, but should be avoided when frequently using modern applications or games that require intense graphical processing.
There are 1 PCIe x16 slots on this motherboard. This means it is perfectly capable of accommodating the latest graphics cards, although it is important to try and use a graphics card with the same graphics card interface of PCIe v2.x, as anything below will not reach the motherboard's potential, and anything above will have its performance slashed to the bandwidth maximum of the Acer MCP73T-AD's PCIe v2.x. The Acer MCP73T-AD does not support multiple graphics cards via Nvidia SLI or AMD Crossfire. The Acer MCP73T-AD has 9 USB 2.0 slots but no USB 3.0 slots.
While USB 3.0 slots are so far by no means necessary, and with a plethora of USB 2.0 peripherals to choose from, the USB functionality on this motherboard should be fine. If planning on building a new system, a motherboard with USB 3.0 is likely to have a longer life cycle, however.
