My concern that my daughter has seen dramatic swings in her sleep cycles was treated in a dismissive manner and although she is 16, he spoke only to me as if she were not in the room. We both found this to be unprofessional and discourteous.

In the instance of the low self-esteem that accompanies depression this is unacceptable behavior--treating a patient as if they are invisible. If the doctor had determined that no sleep study was necessary prior to our visit and that was our request, he should simply have referred us to a sleep psychologist and saved us the 2 months of waiting time, the 45 minute drive and the cost of the visit.
